Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) is an annual international meeting where 21 countries members participate. The distinctive point of this group is that there is no treaty obligation required. All decisions are reached by agreement and all commitments are undertaken on voluntary basis.
Even though the highlight is APEC CEO Summit held on November 12-19, 2006, there will be the related meeting held in Vietnam throughout the year. Certainly, as the host of APEC 2006, Vietnamese government must work hard to arrange the perfect meetings. What do they do?
To greet all APEC participants, public utility development is one of the first plans that the government give an important to especially the residence. Standard 3 stars hotels are building increasingly. Special activities like food and craft village festival 2006 by the coorperation of The Hanoi Tourism Department and Hanoi People's Committee will be organized for both locals and foreigners. In addition, Vietnam has joined the APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC) project to facilitate the investors from APEC members. The privilege of ABTC members is to visit and stay at least 60 days for each visit without visa. The government has already started the project in the early of 2006. |
