However, there are many interesting tourist attractions in Thailand , so ! where should we go ? If you have no idea, please look at the following choice. It may be the great trip for you.

We have to say that our destination is suitable for only one who love naturalness, adventure and tranquillity. It is “Pang Ung” , a land of river bend, fog, mountain and pine.

Pang Ung is also called as “ Pangtong (2) Projects initiated by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej”. It is established to develop highland with modern agricultural projects. This also include soil and water sources development. Nowadays, agricultural systems have been developed excessively and all habitants here can be self-dependent . There are many plants are cultivated here such as flowers, Chinese pear and Japanese Apricot. Pang Ung Project is located at Tambon Mokjampae , Muang District , Mae Hong Son Province and approximately 30 kilometres from Mae Hong Son.

When you arrive, there are three things you see first , curved river bend, hazy fog and verdant pine leaves. Anytime, they have always been here to dance and welcome all visitors.

Do you agree that would it be the great time if we are on a hammock , reading a good book , sipping a tasty, hot, smooth cup of coffee or strolling through the pine way to discover something ? Wow ! It is a great moment !

Good morning....Pang Ung ! When the sunlight shine on water and reflect to the verdant pine leaves, hazy fog slowly blow throughout the lake. While one side is abundant with pines, another full with the diversity of native flowers . How wonderful it is ? This is why someone says “ Pang Ung is the New Zealand and Switzerland of Thailand” at the same time .

From the A-frame we can walk along the road near the lakeside to flower garden and office of the Pangtong (2) Projects. At this time you can view the wonderful scenery alongside. So, don't forget your camera ! In addition, there are two swans swiming at the lake too.

Besides these, there is bamboo raft service for someone who want to cross to the opposite bank or get close to swans and lake.

There are many plants around here such as native flowers, coffee, oranges and giant Fish tail Palm which is taller than the flag pole. Wow ! unseen in Thailand .



Nowadays, people can lodge in here because there are over ten A-Frame huts (200-400 baht / night) and a bistro to serve all of visitors.However, tenting and self-cooking near the lakeside would be the best choice .

Well, don't worry about bathroom ,there is available ! If you are the one who interested in lifestyle of native Thai people, Baan Ruam Thai home stay (150-200 baht/ night) could make your dream comes true. Here you can touch with handmade fresh roasted coffee and many things you never seen before. However, there is no electricity here. So ! it is the great place to relax.

Take a Mae Hong Son- Pai (Route 1095) route .Turn left at the way to Phu Klon (15 kilometres from Mae Hong Son) and drive along. The way to Pangtong is quite curve and steep, you should drive carefully. Turn left at Bann Ma Kue Jae, there is also a sign to indicate you to the Pangtong project.If you find the concrete road , drive along. Both of left and right, you will find the native Thai people (Hmong and Thai Yai hill tribe) villages and Pang Ung is ahead.

- Chiang Mai -Pai – Maehongson (from Chiang Mai Arcade Bus Station, Tel 053-242664 )

Then take a Mae Hong Son – Ban Ruk Thai (Mae-Or) minibus ( common called Song-thaew) at Sai Yud market

Well, although the way to Pang Ung is Asphalt road, it would be better to stay alert behind the wheel and drive carefully because there are full of curve and steep ways.Hope you enjoy with your trip !
